I have been battling with this issue for several days now. On event listing pages, where the map is supposed to be, the text ‘Map Unavailable’ displays. When searching for events by city, an empty set is returned. On event and location pages in admin, the text ‘Location not found’ displays.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far.
    1. Confirmed the addresses show when entered the same way into Google maps
    2. Created a browser API key for Google Maps Javascript, Google Maps Geocoding API and Google Places API Web Service libraries.
    3. Restricted API key to certain http referrers and also tried removing the restriction
    4. Deleted and re-created several API keys, all to no avail. API console in Google shows no requests.
    5. Disabled all plugins.
    6. Deleted and re-added the events plugin
    7. Theme is not the issue. The same theme works on another site with events manager and several other plugins installed as well.
    8. Cross referenced settings with other working site and everything that pertains seems to match.

I have been fighting this issue for a few days now. The event location search is a critical component of the site, so I cannot launch without it.

Update on this. I am now getting successful responses logged in Google’s API console, but still no maps.

I solved this on my own, so here’s the solution for anyone with a similar problem, because it seems to have come up a lot.

I had added my locations before I added my Google Maps API key, so I basically had to go back and re-edit all of my locations. The map on the locations page checks the form for changes as you tab through it, so I just basically deleted one part of the address, tabbed away, and then re-added it, and the map rendered. After this the map search worked to, so the geocoding probably put the coordinates in the database.

This probably wouldn’t have taken so long for me to solve, but the one thing I hadn’t tried was creating a new location after setting the API key. Hope this helps someone.

    I have opposite problem.
Locations that where previously set-up (more than a year ago) worked before and after adding the Google Maps API key.
Trying to add a New location – I get “Location not found”

    Please advise
