Map & Location Error Mobile Only

    Experiencing a peculiar error with this map but only on mobile. It works fine on PC. On mobile I get a blank map with a proper border and dimensions and a grey rectangle on bottom left corner of map with a red X in it.
    Stranger still, a very similar map on another of my websites works properly on both PC and mobile. The only difference between the two websites is the ad network I use (Journey by Mediavine on the error website and Adsense on the working website).
    I have no idea if that is the problem but it is the only discrepancy that immediately comes to mind between the two websites.

    I stand corrected. Just now I tried to view my map on PC and they are no longer working now either. Maps on my other website still work.

    OK, I have some more evidence to share. I definitely think the Journey by Mediavine ad injection is messing with OSM’s ability to display the map properly.

    Here is some refined info regarding when it works and when it does not. On PC, the map only works when I’m logged into WordPress since the ad network does not show ads when I’m logged in. If I am logged out of WordPress or use an Incognito window, the map does not work and ads are shown. The map does not work on my phone or anyone else’s phone and ads are shown.

    Google Adsense, which is installed on my other website, does not create this problem for whatever reason. The map works in all circumstances on that website (www.terrathesaurum.com).

    When I inspect the website and specifically look at the grey bordered box with purple X at the bottom left corner, I see the following:

    Comparing this to the working website, I think this bit of code should be showing the openstreetmap copyright, contributors, and Plugin link to your website. And, in fact, when I display the map while logged into WordPress (the situation when everything works) and inspect the code, that is what happens. The copryright, OpenStreetMap contributers Plugin shows properly in the bottom right of the map (map shows too) and the inspection shows two a href links in a list just like the working website with Adsense installed.

    I hope that wasn’t too confuddled. I believe I’ve identified the problem, I just don’t know how to fix it. I’ve been troubleshooting optimization exclusion of ads script (which I don’t fully understand) but it isn’t working.

    Hallo @acrockofschmidt ,

    I think you’ve done a great job narrowing down the cause to Journey by Mediavine. Have you tried disabling it to see if the site works then?
    I’m not familiar with Journey by Mediavine myself, but there’s likely a way to exclude the WordPress block containing the WP OSM Plugin shortcode from Journey by Mediavine:

    I deactivated the ad network plugin and map loading was still not working. Odd.

    Looking at plugin updates, the ad network plugin has not been updated for a year. OSM has had several updates in that time. I’m not certain when the OSM maps stopped loading properly (a reader pointed it out to me) but I was sure it worked at one time. So I started rolling back OSM updates using WP Rollback. I discovered that version 6.1.17 works whereas version 6.2.0 and newer do not work. So, I suspect something in the 6.2.0 update “broke” the happiness between OSM and the ad network. Does this pinpoint any possible culprit?
