Many problems with WordPress

    Dear Guys and Gals,

    Ok so I am giving this a second go around.

    I had a lot of trouble with my first wordpress installation. I am using 1and1 for my webhost (probably a bad idea) and as a result I install wordpress through filezilla. I was able to get a site up and running before but I had a bunch of technical issues.

    Upon reinstall I still have these issues.

    1. For a number of themes that I attempt to install i get an error usually along the lines of Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /homepages/40/d364164359/htdocs/wp-content/themes/platform-1/sections/nav/section.nav.php on line 13

    Its always different lines, and I never change anything in the themes that I download.

    2. When downloading a theme I always have to download the file and drag it over into filezilla rather then the install option on wordpress, which always remains on Unzipping…

    3. My media uploader always will go to 100% and then stay on crunching without providing the usual options that follow. I can retrieve my images by canceling out of media upload and then going back to media upload in which case the pictures are always in my gallery.

    Please can anyone help me!?!?

    Some themes and plugins require PHP 5+, check if webhost is still PHP4 and ask them to upgrade to PHP5
