I only have the free plugin version because my client can’t pay for the Pro version.

I tried the manual migration to push the staging site (creators.org.au/creation/develop) to the live site which was installed in a subdirectory (creators.org.au/creation). I followed all steps from this article: https://wp-staging.com/migrate-wordpress-staging-site-to-production-site/

Unfortunately the migration failed with several issues (broken header and menu probably due to Elementor Pro which is activated for the staging site only, site URL should be creators.org.au but can’t be changed, etc).

I have a full WP Staging backup of both the live site and the staging site. Is it possible to restore both sites from the backups so I can try the migration again? I’m afraid the database got messed up somehow. Unfortunately I can’t login to the live site anymore (creators.org.au/creation/wp-admin – it keeps sending me in an endless loop to creators.org.au/creation/develop/wp-login.php). I can login to the former staging site (creators.org.au/creation/develop/wp-admin) and this is now the live site – the WP Staging plugin shows that there is no staging site anymore.

I hope you can help. Thanks so much.

I hope your client can pay for your wages. Sorry, I could not resist 😉

Let me try to help you:

If Elementor can not find the images due to the manual migration, I recommend the following options:

    – Deactivate and activate again the Elementor Pro license. I assume it’s a paid and valid license?
    – Delete the Elementor cache. Please read this article on how to do it: https://wp-staging.com/docs/elementor-issues-layout-design-broken-after-pushing/

    > Unfortunately, the migration failed with several issues (broken header and menu probably due to Elementor Pro, which is activated for the staging site only

If this still does not work, and you think this is caused by Elementor, please get in touch with their support. I am sure they can help you further.

Fingers crossed! Feel free to let me know if it works.

    Cheers

Thanks for your reply, Rene @renehermi. You are spot on with your suggestion. The problem was with Elementor Pro. Sadly deactivating and reconnecting the license key did not fix it because it kept connecting with the wrong URL of the staging site and I could not change it manually.

The only solution I could think of was to wipe everything clean: uninstall wordpress, set up a new, squeaky clean wordpress installation and restore from the backups that I thankfully had. Once I reconnected the Elementor Pro license in this new installation it was all good! 🙂
