Manage multiple directories with same CMS

Is it possible to manage two different directories with the same WordPress Content Management System?

I am trying to find a way to password protect a single page with the server side username and password feature.

I think I am going to have to install a totally seperate wordpress in the protected folder, but I wanted to check with you all first to see if you have ever done anything like this before.
