What theme do you mean? You are not using the Twenty Twelve theme.
If it’s Twenty Eleven, you can edit line 75 of style.css for that theme and change the max-width value of #page to a whatever size you need.
No! Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. First create a child theme for your changes. Or use a custom CSS plugin.

Instead of editing the theme’s files, you should use a plugin with Custom CSS functionality or a Child Theme.
I would normally agree, and if more modifications are to be made then yes I agree create a child theme, but for 1 simple change I think creating a child theme is a little bit over the top.
Typically one change leads to others and down the road, someone is totally messed up when they update the theme…
but for 1 simple change I think creating a child theme is a little bit over the top.
So use a custom CSS plugin as Andrew suggested.
Sorry I didn’t mean the twenty twelve theme I meant the one I have now.
