To prevent duplicate emails, you can use separate “Thank You” page as fast solution.
“Thank You” page can be defined here: “Contact Form” > “Settings” > “Form” tab > “ThankYou Page” section – you can select some static page from the list of existed pages.
As for general issue, it is known issue and it was scheduled for development. We will fix it in future plugin releases.

I just added a ‘thank you’ page before posting this, we’ll see how it helps. Would love to see a loading ‘send’ button in the future though.

We’ve added locking of the submit button with last plugin release. You can update plugin and check if this will help with your initial issue.
