Make dropdown, submenu transparent

At the moment the dropdown box is white which covers images I have on the page. I want the images central but my dropdown menu covers some of the image. I would like to make the dropbown box transparent but keeping the page banes/ text clear. I can not find the answer elsewhere. I am using a Twenty Thirteen child theme. plinthart.com
