First we want to thank all our active users. It’s amazing that this plugin has been out less than a year and it already has over 10K active installs! Thank you all!

Secondly, we want you all to know that we are finally designating the time and investment to improve this plugin like it really needs it. You all have been giving us a lot of feedback, and issuing a lot of bugs and we appreciate that.

Our plan right now is to focus on cleaning up the bugs and implementing a couple new features as well. Please feel free to comment on this post. For now, here’s the list of the most important issues we’re focusing on now.

    • When other plugins use Google Maps API, it creates a conflict — our last solution “works”, but we’d like a more robust solution
    • Solidify marker creation, both saving and displaying them well, as well as build in the ability to create custom markers easily
    • When the map is embedded inside a tab or hidden intially and loaded via Ajax, it doesn’t initiate.

That’s it for now. Would love your feedback on this list as well as any additional items you’d like to see happen soon. We’ll keep this thread updated with our progress. Thanks!

I’d love the ability to only load the map scripts on pages that use a map.

I could really, -REALLY- use the ability to mark out areas on the map with the polygon tool. I work on dozens of sites and clients are all requesting ‘service area’ maps…I cannot figure out a fast/easy way to do this :/

@isterling03 — absolutely. We can make that happen for sure.
@nativerank — interesting. No promises, but we’ll dig into it.

Or at least a way to incorporate the code generated from here:

Some Google places (business) unable to be found here:
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/create-marker-function-not-finding-locations

I believe it has to do with the plugin using the Reference ID rather Places ID.

I would like the markers to actually show the info assigned to them when the map is in place. A the moment it just hangs waiting for the info to display.

    Hi @timtav,

Yes, we’ve heard from users that that often happens. It’s not so easy to reproduce, but that is one of the main purposes of this intiative, so no worries, the next update you see will resolve that issue for sure.

Great, if you have working copy where my graphic designs can change marker label with image themselves, plus choosing any Snazzy map until next week, we’ll use it…

Hi, are there plans to include clustering?
I’ve done some research to manage markers and clusters, but lack the knowledge to put them into a plugin.
Here is an example of what I’m meaning.

    BTW good work.

@alfonsoab wow, that’s a cool feature that I haven’t come across yet. Will add it to the list for future enhancements.

Great, I’ll be waiting for it πŸ™‚
There is some nice documentation and code here that I’ve used for the example:
    http://google-maps-utility-library-v3.googlecode.com/svn/tags/markerclustererplus/2.1.2/docs/reference.html
If you like the checkbox search, it’s a really simple script, here is the dev version and a fiddle.

Hi, would it be possible to have a “Marker shortcode” ?
It would display the map with all its markers, but “focused” ( centered and zoomed ) on a specific marker.
I would also appreciate a clustering possibility.
Thank you for your plugin. Your development program looks great

    Hi,
Also love the plugin! My suggestions would be:

    1. Display – introduce a full width option – testing px, etc to see how far it goes on my page + it may appear big on my computer which has a small screen, but on larger screens it may appear tiny… full-width would solve that issue;
    2. Clustering – have it as an option, I could use it on certain maps, but not on all, so ideally it would not be a default;
    3. Preview – in the settings area when preview is on, if the display size is big, the map goes out of container and covers all the controls on the right hand side – Display and Control Options – any way to change that?
    4. Marker Icons – I’ve seen from previous posts that there’s a bug that prevents the new marker icon from being displayed, hopefully that will be solved. Is it possible to have individual marker icons for each location I am adding? when choosing a location to add on the map / marker to drop, have an option to add a custom make icon… that could be very useful…
    5. As mentioned earlier by someone, a possibility to centre the map on one particular location would be super helpful – it could be either one of the markers of a separate location that is not necessarily marked on the map but that can be indicated somewhere in the settings section.

Thanks a lot for your great work!

Hey version 2.0 has been released and I’m going to unpin this topic and mark it as resolved. If you experience any issues with the latest release please post on a new topic.
