• Right I am in a little bit of trouble/stress at the moment.

I was not paying attention or not thinking and changed my hosting provider from Forth Hosting to Host Big as I felt it was not as quick as it should be.

I changed the server names on my domain name with 1and1 just thinking everything would stay the same and just the hosting behind the scenes would change but of course I didn’t back up my WordPress website blog for my Nutrition Company!

So now my site is not appearing and Host Big are trying to help but my Forth Hosting is clueless and not being very helpful!

So my question is how can I get my full website back up and running again and hope that I have not lost it forever in the deep dark world wide web.

I dowloaded a backup half way through this change that is around 2.9gb big and comes under the name – 2014-10-15-site-full_backup-nutritiosteps.com.zip

Would this be a full proper backup of my wordpress website? Or what do I need to do now to sort everything out.

    HELP!

Thank you for your time and help in advance if you need anymore information from me to help me out with this i will do my best to try and give it 🙂

  • Unfortunately there’s no way for us to know for sure if you have a complete backup or not. If you have a copy of the database in the backup (probably ends with .sql, or similar), and a copy of the wp-content directory, you have a chance of recovering your site.

Assuming you have both of those, here’s what I would do.

    1. Install a fresh copy of WordPress on the new host
    2. Delete the wp-content directory from the server, and upload the copy of the wp-content directory from your backup
    3. Via phpMyAdmin, drop all tables from the WordPress database
    4. Import your copy of the database
    5. Cross your fingers and try to log in
