• I have requested my forgotten password via e-mail about 10 times now and after a few hours I have still not received anything. I have checked the ‘resetting your password’ topic but I a) can’t reset it in the admin panel because I can’t log in, b) the automatic e-mail is not working and c)through PHP admin, I am not given the options as provided by the tutorial (no drowdown for function, ie. MD5 or password values for editing.)

MSQL or FTP editing is too complex for my technical knowledge and I really feel that I should be able to retrieve my password via the automatic retrieval without having to resort to complex editing.

  • Hi smoothiekick
Things look a little different in php now. After you click the wpuser..you’ll need to click the box next to your user. Then click on the pencil that is below (not to the side) I think it says “change” that will make a pop-up box come up and you will see where you can change your password and the function column is there where you can select md5.

    I hope that helps:)

PS..you are right..the lost password does not email right now..I hope they fix this.

Thank you so much Brenda – it worked! Pretty poor that the e-mail retrieve is not working and that the forum topic is outdated.

I manage quite a lot of WordPress sites spread over a number of different hosting solutions. Password retrieval works across all of them. If you aren’t receiving emails from your site(s), have a read of this:

Emailed passwords are not being received
