Lost my theme/formatting – help please!

    Hi there, I completely screwed up my website and was wondering if you had any quick pointers. I’m new to this site and to all things wordpess and website related, so please be understanding. I’ve had a website for 2 years now, which someone else designed for me using a wordpress site. I decided to try posting a blog post on my website for the first time. I wrote the first test post, and then hit the design button. I chose “dark night.” Lo and behold, it changed the design on my entire website except the home page! I thought it was just for the blog post page! I don’t know what the template was before, or how to get it back. Is there anything in the history that can show me this? The person who designed this site for me is unreachable. I know she put some individual formatting in (I think). I’m wondering if any of this is stored anywhere and if there is a simple way to get it back! Please help. Totally screwed.

    Go back to the Design page and choose another theme. Preferably the one whose image matches (or is close to) your site’s previous appearance.

    On the design page there are about 20 themes. None of them really look like the one I had – I’m pretty sure she did some modification. So the question is, is the modification saved somewhere? i.e., if i pick one of those designs, will it show up with the additional formatting? I could easily just try each of these templates, and see which one fits. But I didn’t know if there was a history saved somewhere, like the equivalent of a certain number of undos, and if so, I didn’t want to risk losing that.

    I am not able to get pictures from the themes when I pick one. I cannot get the pictures of the themes to show up. Please help. I cannot fix my website because of this. It happens no matter what theme I pick.

    is the modification saved somewhere?

    If the theme was modified, the changes will still be there. You may have to go through each of the theme until you find the right one. There is no revision history for themes.

    so just click on each theme until one looks right? I am just so surprised that by one click – without option to save or review – the entire layout of my website changes. to update content, I still have to “save.” why not design?
