be aware that Twenty Eleven does not show sidebars on single posts and static pages.
Thanks for your response alchymyth – my site is http://www.techprojectmanagement.org
Hope you can help …
within the Showcase Sidebar
you need to assign the ‘showcase’ template to a static page to have this sidebar visible;
dashboard – pages – edit page – page attributes – templates
or copy/duplicate the widgets into the ‘main’ sidebar
Thanks for you help alchymyth.
However, when I follow your instructions, the theme on my second page (Project Manager Responsibilites) seems to have “flipped”, with the ads now on the left and the content on the right. Also, how do I apply your changes to my Home page, when it is not listed under dashboard – pages?
the ‘showcase’ template has the sidebar on the left – fixed, unchangable.
you can use the’sidebar template’ for the page, which would have the sidebar on the same side as the general template.
how do I apply your changes to my Home page, when it is not listed under dashboard – pages?
as mentioned before, add the ad widgets to the ‘main’ sidebar area under dashboard – appearance – widgets
play around a bit to get used to the new theme and its options.
Hi alchymyth,
I’ve abandoned (at least temporarily until I learn more) the use of the Showcase and reverted to moving the affiliate widgets back to the Main Sidebar. While this seems to have worked, the ads now appear to be slightly too wide for the sidebar. Can I simply change the size of the banner from 300×250 to 250×250, go back to Google Adsense and get some new code to paste in?

sure, should be no problem…
Many thanks for all your help alchymyth – it has been most appreciated.
Is there a plug-in to add the 3 ‘affiliate banner code’ widget to the theme Twenty ten I am currently using?
