• Hi,

I just used the wp-clone plug-in to make a back-up of my website (original domain). Then, I installed wordpress and the wp-clone plug-in on my second domain (new domain). I can see that the restore from back-up was successful on the new domain but all the urls (other than the index page) redirects to the original domain. I tried to change the site url and the blog url and then I was locked out. I didn’t even a have chance to use the Velvet Blues URL changer. Now, I can’t access the wordpress dashboard of the original domain NOR the new domain. Please tell me what can I do?

  • the first issue is due to https://wordpress.org/support/topic/urls-not-resolving-1

how did you change the URLs?

    And the second?

I’ve just tried running your plug-in and found that it failed the migration so just deleted the files from the clone server and am downloading via SFTP and wil do the database stuff manually but now cannot log-in to the original site!!!!! It’s stil working (thank God!) but I’m also locked out of my host (WP Engine)… WTF?????

    Any ideas?

the I tried to change the site url and the blog url and then I was locked out. part? without knowing how the URL were changed, your guess is as good as mine.

we haven’t tested it with wp engine, we even have a note in the description that says it shouldn’t be used with wp engine.
but even if you did run it, the worst case scenario would be a broken site. I honestly can’t think why or how you would be locked out of your hosting account due to a failed restore (perhaps they monitor their sites for unusual activity, but even then I’m not sure why they’d lock you out without informing you first)
