Logo won't up load
-
I’ve tried “drop a file” and also “select a file” using both Firefox and IE.
I’ve tried temporarily increasing folder and file permissions to 777 (from wp-content in).
If it’s a permissions issues can you be specific about which folders/files and which permissions to set?
btw, ideally I’d like to have a logo to the left and text page title and tagline centered. Is this doable?
Thanks,
Scott

ScottHi Scott…best to start over here by stating what is actually happening? Are you getting any errors pop up, and if so, what is the error? Also, were you using the theme customizer to upload a logo?

There were no error messages, not even the little circle thingy which means ‘wait, working’.

Should be working… if possible, could I log into your site and try the logo setup? If so, please contact me from my styledthemes.com website contact page with your login details.
As for your question about customizing the layout for the logo on the left and the site title and tagline kept centered, anything is possible, but you would have to do some custom code modifications to the theme.
Thanks. Will do.
re: “…you would have to do some custom code modifications to the theme.” I would like to try this – always willing to learn.
I will await your login details… is it possible to email me your logo you want to use or tried to upload, then I can try it with your logo.
Just uploaded login info…
Yes, glad to email it. Where’s your email address?
Thanks for the login info… I tried uploading the logo from the WP Customizer and sure enough, it doesn’t upload after selecting the image file I wanted to upload. I tried this on my local test site using a child theme as you are, but I was able to upload the logo and it displayed.
I am thinking one of your plugins might be affecting the customizer (which incidentally is a WordPress function). I didn’t want to start disabling plugins to see which one might be doing that, but I have suspicion it could be the W3 Cache one. Perhaps deactivate it and then try the logo upload.
I deactivated first the W3 Cache => no joy.
Deactivated all but Akismet. No change. This is old blog site I’m resurrecting – had lots of plugins from before…
It’s not very active yet. Feel free to tweak away or suggest other tweaks.
This is where you do the process of elimination… one by one disable a plugin, try the logo upload, and repeat per plugin until you find the one that was causing the issue. I just again tried the logo on my demo site and still not able to replicate your issue which is why I am thinking it’s a plugin conflicting with the WordPress customizer.
All are deactivated. No change in behavior – still nothing happens…
hmmm… strange. No one else has experienced this so there must be something unique about your site or perhaps even the server affecting it. I know you already made changes to the theme options, but I am wondering what would happen if you switched the theme to the actual Preference Lite theme instead of the child one, then try the logo?
Changed to actual Preference lite theme, cleared FF browser cache, same with IE and Chrome. No change in behavior: a short swirl of the little wait icon then nothing.
Also, tried it on my wife’s computer. Same result.
Could it be a permission issue?
Could be. I’m wondering if you should post this in the other forums for WordPress and ask about the customizer not uploading your logo. That part of the customizer is actually a default WordPress function. Here is another test you could try….switch to the default WordPress theme Twenty Thirteen or Twenty twelve, then go to the customizer and see if you run into the same issue?
