Same problem here! The login area show my websites header above the login window and my custom 404 page below the login window. Weirdest bug ever. A temporarily solution is to disable the hide backend option and copy the old hide backend rule from before the update to ht.acces or server config (in case you use nginx).
@rikay i notice that as well on he login page,it seem there is bugs with this plugin i used this for months and never had a problem till now with the new version…
The same problem!
No any rules in .htaccess with my Login Slug. Maybe this is the reason
I have the same issue. Once the new plugin is activated and the Hide Backend feature saved (with the same setting as used previously) all I get is 404 Errors on any login page wp-login.php, wp-admin and the secure url set previously. Fortunately, our site is hosted on WPEngine so I’m able to restore to a previous point in time but most of our clients using this do not have that luxury. Please advise when this will be resolved so we can get client sites updated accordingly.
I notice that Hide Backend automaticly convert uppercase into lowercase. So try again with all lowercase.
Hi,
I had the same issue and I could easily solve this.
1, CHMOD 755 on your .htaccess file
2, Re-Activate/Re-Save the Hide backend function
3, Then voila, everything works fine!
4, (You can remove the write permissions again from your .htaccess file)

Hey All,
Most existing settings from Better WP Security transferred to iThemes Security except for the Hide Backend Setting. You’ll need to reset your Hide Backend Setting due to a new implementation of the feature. In addition, you’ll still want to review your settings after the update as there are new options you will be able to use.
Thanks,
Gerroald
Hi Gerroald,
I have an other problem with this feature. If its enabled some plugins get 404 when they want to reach the /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php.
Do you have a workaround for this?
