Login issue with localhost | WordPress.org

I have downloaded MAMP correctly and am using my Mac as my localhost. I was working on setting up my test site using wordpress.org and “x”ed out of the window and now I can’t log back into the admin page. I am trying to use http://localhost:8888/wp-admin/ ; http://localhost:8888/testsite/wp-admin/ ; http://localhost:8888/

Nothing will open because the safari webpage cannot find the server.

I just downloaded WordPress last week, so everything should be up to date.

It could be a number of things. Maybe try this first:

Go to http://localhost:8888/wp-login.php or http://localhost:8888/testsite/wp-login.php instead of trying to hit the wp-admin

Where did you put your folder containing your WordPress site? Is it in the MAMP htdocs folder? or are you pointing to a different path?

You can also try stopping the server and starting it again in MAMP.

Also, did you add or change the credentials in your wp-config.php file to match your local host settings?
