Localhost WP installation not working

I installed XAMPP earlier this week to be able to run WordPress locally. I followed the direction from this website, http://sixrevisions.com/tutorials/web-development-tutorials/using-xampp-for-local-wordpress-theme-development/, and was able to open the “Twentyten” theme without a problem. Also able to log into local WP Dashboard.

However, returning today to download and view a new theme, I’m not able to access http://lacalhost/wordpress or http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin. I get the following error message: “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage”. I ran the Diagnose Connection Problem and received the following message: “The remote devise or resource won’t accpet the connection. Detected” + a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark.

I installed XAMPP in c://xampp. I use Windows 7 and IE8.

Please help.
