Loading problems

Is there a way ot reduce the number of article appearing one each page. Presently there are about ten per page but would like to reduce it to five to reduce the load time. For example page two of the Imagineer’s Chronicles http://www.theimagineershome.com/blog/?paged=2 can take up to 30 to load.
