Load WordPress pages using AJAX

I’ve been beating myself over the head for a week now. I have used the following page to reference in getting the AJAX page load to work. While reading through the comments, I noticed someone posted that it doesn’t work in WP 3.2.1. I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this for me. I would also like to have it to where my “home” page doesn’t show anything, just the background and navigation.
