Linking A Picture, Why Doesn’t It Work ???

OK, I’m having this very irritating problem. What I’m trying to do is place a picture in my WP Static page and have it set up so a visitor can click on that image and be directed to a link. Using the visual editor in WP, I highlight the picture and then click LINK and type in my link. Now this works for text, but when I do it for pictures it doesn’t seem to want to save the link. This is baffling me, because sometimes I can get it to work, sometimes I can get it to work one time and then later it doesn’t, and then this latest time it just won’t work period. Grrr…

Is there something I’m missing?
