Linked files not downloading

    Hi,

    Files don’t download, instead they load in the browser and display as code / file metadata.
    Been having this problem for a while and have updated to the latest versions of WP, the plugin, updated php to v8.
    Error has been tested with pdf’s and images.
    Never used any cache plugin.
    Error has been tested with safari, chrome & firefox.
    Have de-activated all other plugins except for polylang.

    Any suggestions?

    Could you please give link with the page where the download link resides? The page you gave only has a menu and the rest is white.

    @odck thank you for the info. Yes, this seems strange, haven’t encountered it yet. Could you please tell me if the .htaccess rules are the default ( like here ) or have they been modified? Also, it seems that everything is loaded in an iframe and I think that is the main problem with the download. The script you are using is getting the contents of the file you want to download. Could you please disable loading in iframe for the downloads specific links and let the default action take place ? This should solve your problem.
