[Resolved] Link to pdf file without shortcode or embed

In the past when I want to place a link to a pdf file on a page I click on Add Media, upload my pdf, select “link to media file” and insert into page. Then there’ll be a link to the file. But now when I follow the same process I get a gview shortcode on my page in the editor and the link on the public page just says “Download 8kb”. Then when you click on it you download the file. I don’t know what has changed. Can I change something to enable the behavior I had previously.

    Sorry? What’s a “gview shortcode”?

Here’s the shortcode that appears on the page in the editor window after I add media: [gview file=”http://www.irmforestry.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/testpage.pdf”]

That’s coming from one of your plugins. Try deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. When I went to disable plugins I discovered that another admin had installed Google Document Embedder plugin. This was the cause of the problem. I deactivated that plugin and it fixed the issue. Thank you.
