Is it possible to have a link on the homepage to posts that belong to a specific category and show those on a page for that?

I would like to put projects in different categories and link to them from the homepage so they open on the projects page..

or consider to create and use a custom menu:
http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Menu_User_Guide
http://codex.wordpress.org/Navigation_Menus

all those created links should open a category archive page with posts of that particular category.

Thanks for you reply. Is there also a way to get the page name in the url?

I edited the category base but that only works if you have one page using categories.

I am using multiple pages that depend on categories I would somehow like to “link” to the pages.

So category news, well is a news item that should link to the news page.
Project categories should open in the category page.

Don’t know if a solution like that is there for WordPress.
