I use Category Access, too. You can go into each user and adjust the categories he or she can see.
Maybe I’m doing something wrong. When I edit a user, and check the categories I want available to the user, they are able to only post to the specified categories, but they can still see the other categories that are part of the blog. I want to make it easier for them to post by getting rid of all the category names that they are not allowed to post to.
You’re talking about after they login, right?
And you want to limit the Categories list on the Write Post page? Now, I see what you want to do, if that is correct.
That is correct. Any suggestions?
I found this plugin while looking through Category posts in the support forum – http://redalt.com/wiki/Limit+Categories
I have tried this plugin, as mentioned in the first post (“Limit Categories”). The problem is that it only limits it to each role, and not to each user. A combimation of “Category Access” and “Limit Categories” is what I am looking for because “Category Access” achieves the limiting for each user adn “Limit Categories” makes the categories invisible if you don’t have permission to write to the category. I’m not very good at coding, but if there is a way to combine code from each into one plugin, that would be great.
You can get the Role Manager plugin, which let’s you create new roles. If you had to, you could create one for each individual user. Then use limit categories with your newly created roles.

I think you need to ask each plugin author what they think. They are both great plugin developers.
