Thanks for trying Pro on your staging site, and for the clear description of what you're seeing.
With 12+ generations the chart does get very large — that's a lot of data to fit on screen. A few things that should help:
Limit the initial generations shown
In AP Family Trees > Charts, edit your chart and find the Initial generations to display setting. Setting this to 4 or 5 means the chart loads with only those generations visible, keeping it manageable. On Pro, visitors can then use the floating generations control panel to step up or down from there — so no data is hidden, it just loads gradually.
Use the Generations Slide
Users can adjust the number of generations on show using the slide on the top right. It you stare with a smaller display and add copy on your screen highlighting the control, they can adjust this to suite themselves.
Pan and zoom
The chart supports pinch-to-zoom and click-drag panning out of the box. Visitors can zoom out to get a bird's-eye view of the whole tree, then zoom in on the section they want to read. The full-screen button (top-right hamburger menu) gives more space to work with.
Consider the chart type
You're using the Ancestor Vertical chart (ancestors ascending from the bottom). For very deep lineages going back to 1500, the Ancestor Horizontal chart (subject on the left, ancestors branching rightward — available on Pro) can sometimes be easier to navigate as it uses horizontal space rather than stacking generations vertically.
Side padding
In the chart settings, try setting Side padding to "Full width" so the chart uses the full page width.
Could you share roughly which chart type you're using currently, and whether you have the generations control panel enabled? That'll help narrow down the best approach for your specific tree.
