• Hello,

I’ve got 2 websites running wordpress, both very similar. One of my websites is using around 22mb of disk space, where as the other is using over 300mb?

I have only recently installed wordpress on this site as well, i noticed it was around 250mb around 2 days after installing it (with softaculous).

They both have nearly identical plugins other than one gallery plugin, around 2 plug-ins in total.

They both have 1 theme installed, they are different themes so I wondered if this could cause the large size.

    Many thanks!

  • It’s possible, but I’d look at the size of each directory to see where the size is coming from. The times that I’ve seen something like this before it’s been because there’s an error_log file that keeps on getting bigger and bigger, and if that’s the case you’ll need to find where it is, and fix the issues that are being logged in it.

Apart from that, look at the size of the database and see if there’s major differences there.

I’ve had both the websites open in FTP client and got through each directory and checked and I really can’t find any difference.

Is there any places where it would be more common for larger files to be?

Also is there any other way to see the largest files on a website, as with ftp you can only see whats largest within 1 directory (or at least on filezilla).

    Thanks

Try the plugin WP Cleanup. Saved my derriere.
