Large items from HubSpot blog cause errors

My installed version of the hubspot plugin is a bit dated (v1.6.5) but maybe this is still an issue.

It seems that once in a while the feed from feedburner has huge items in it.

This line

$rss = fetch_feed(“http://feeds.feedburner.com/HubSpot”);

Has resulted in this error
WordPress database error Got a packet bigger than ‘max_allowed_packet’ bytes for query INSERT INTO dmind9_options

Since hs-admin is only showing the title and link is there a way to make fetch_feed only pull the link and subject?
