Keeping a site online *while* publishing a post

    Is it possible to keep one’s wordpress site online while publishing a new post or updating one? Right now a visitor sees a blank screen or a request timed out browser message when he/she tries to access a site when a post is being published or edited on the back end. Technically one is just publishing or updating that single post, so why does the entire site have to go offline?

    It shouldn’t. If there is a noticeable change in the site’s performance when a post is published, then it suggests that there may be some sort of server load issue.

    What plugins are you running?
