• This is the first website I have created. It is set up using the Kadence theme using the Gutenberg Block Editor. The website design is based on uses Kadence tabs, which works great for large screen users. I am getting feedback that mobile screens are being consumed by the initial startup tab being open.

If all tabs could be set to closed, users would be happier with the design. Using an accordion block for mobile users would work; however, it would mean altering the Visibility settings appropriately and duplicating the bulk of the content. One set of content would be used for large screens and the set of content would be for mobile screens. Is there a better alternative?

  • You can post in the Kadance block’s support forum to get help from the developer and user community — to see if and how you can conditionally open the first block on desktop, but have all blocks open on mobile on initial page load.

That said, I personally, and I understand I’m not your target user, prefer to have some useful information displayed on page load, rather than only having only menus to select:

Again, I’m not your user, but a bigger problem to me is the large margins/paddings on the tabs with background colours, putting the content in a very narrow column:

(Note: the black border is not part of your site. I added it just for you to see the edges of the mobile screen to better show the issue I’m raising.)

Thank you. The use of tabs on a desktop (large screen) is great but falls short on a mobile screen. Your comment about the large margins is valid. To get a coloured background I used the Row Block inside of a column block and need to get rid of padding somewhere.

I am finding it a challenge to alter the design for desktop, tablet and mobile modes in the Gutenberg Block Editor and resort to the http://www.responsinator.com site to get some sense of the look. The alternative is use the the browser “Inspect” feature.

To be truthful, my problem is that I have become married to the design I had in mind and may have to abandon it for something better. That is easier said than done. Art was not my best subject in school.

Really appreciate your feedback. It’s what I needed.
