Just How Customisable Are WordPress URL's?

    Hi,

    We have an existing website that was built in HTML (not in WordPress). We wish to redesign the site in WordPress (possibly with WooCommerce) but have a major problem…we can’t have every URL of the new site change from the old site…it will effect SEO!

    At the moment our URL’s are pretty simple like this:

    http://www.site.co.uk/productkind.htm

    So this really leads to 2 questions:

    1) Can you have full control over how your URL’s look online? (without WordPress throwing in random symbols and numbers).

    2) Can you actually edit URL’s to end with .htm etc.?

    Can any one help with this please? Is this something that WordPress has the ability to do out-of-the-box or would this need a good plugin?
