Hm, that’s very odd, since Jetpack’s Photon module was essentially doing responsive images before WordPress did.
Is there any improvement if you disable the Photon module at Jetpack -> Settings in your site’s Dashboard?
Yes it’s strange. When Photon is disabled the images again becomes responsive. (Although it seem to function quite sporadic when copying the image link, might be caching though? PageSpeed doesn’t seem to recognize it either).
My thought is that it could have something to do with how ACF returns the image values. But this is really out of my league knowledge wise 🙂
I went back to the RICG Responsive plugin for now which I think gives me an okay performance for my site. It would however be nice, not to depend on additional plugins..
See if WordPress’s responsive images kick in with *all* plugins deactivate. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.
If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Sixteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue.
Thanks for your response James!
I will try that. My page does however rely heavily on the ACF plugin so if that’s what’s causing the issue (I think that’s likely) I really don’t have any other solution then finding another way to load these images responsive…
I’ll get back if I make any progress!
I totally understand, still would be handy to know what’s doing it though, then maybe ACF can fix it. 😉
Absolutely 🙂
I’ve posted in the ACF forum as well so hopefully we’ll find a solution. Thanks again!
