Jetpack and subscribe2

I seem to have an issue but am pretty novice at this. I’m running Jetpack as I thought I needed it to use the portfolio function on the Argent theme (child theme). However I would like to avoid the WordPress W logo being shown on outgoing notification emails. I have read that it’s not possible to change that and others suggested subscribe2 as an option.
The question is should I use subscribe2 instead and will I still be able to use the portfolio function somehow if I need to deactivate Jetpack (or do I?)
