Issues with customers signing up

    Hi all,

    On our shop page we have the option for customers to sign up to our mailing list at the checkout – I’m not sure if these examples had checked or unchecked the box, but every time we get an order come through, that customer appears on our subscribers list as ‘unsubscribed’ but it doesn’t say if they actually subscribed.

    We tested this with 3 emails and test orders, and unchecked the box – we didn’t appear on the list.
    We tested it twice and checked the box, and we appeared on the list, but as subscribed so totally confusing. Any answers?

    So if I am getting this right this is how the sign-up checkbox should work. If the person that is purchasing checks it, they are subscribed. If they don’t check it they are not subscribing to get your emails.

    Hi @danielinhou , yes you’re right, it’s just confusing that when someone unchecks the box (as we’ve noticed through our tests the box is already checked when they arrive at the checkout page) they still appear on the mailing list but as unsubscribed, when they didn’t even unsubscribe. Surely it would make more sense if the customer didn’t appear at all on the mailing list to save us the time of trying to work out why that person unsubscribed, when they didn’t even subscribe at all?

    I am glad to know that you understand how it works, and yes, I agree that it can be confusing. The WooCommerce list is a special one and works like that.
