Issues with CSS code injection and video display

    I have had two serious problems on two different websites. Not sure if I should submit these issues as two separate tickets.

    1. With Relevanssi Premium version 2.31.2, WordPress 7.1 and the Meridian Recipes theme, Relevanssi normally displays a 2- or 3-column grid for Related Posts (depending on desktop screen width). However, a strange thing happened recently. When logged in as admin, the responsive behavior of that grid was normal. When not logged in, all Related Posts blocks/panels appeared full width in their container. The issue was not with the theme or other plugins. I used the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin to test other themes and selectively deactivate/activate site plugins. I played around with various options under Relevanssi’s Settings > Related Posts section. What proved to be effective was to empty the Relevanssi cache under Display and UI > Related Posts – Caching. 
    2. With Relevanssi free version 4.28.2, WordPress 7.1, the Genesis framework and Dynamic-Gen theme, self-hosted videos ceased to function. Clicking on a video did nothing. I used the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin to test other themes and selectively deactivate/activate site plugins. Only by deactivating Relevanssi free was I able to restore the functionality of the self-hosted videos. It appears that Relevanssi is creating an overlay that disables the video click action. In this free version of Relevanssi I do not see an option for clearing cache under Settings > Debugging. So the Relevanssi free plugin remains deactivated on this website.

    Yes, these should be separate tickets, and the Premium one should go to Premium support. I’m not allowed to help you with that here. But it’s not malicious CSS injection; it’s just a caching problem with the page styles and nothing dangerous.

    For the second problem, how exactly are these videos implemented on your site? How would I reproduce this issue? Please describe the problem in detail. I know there’s a good chance Relevanssi will break videos if you have the “highlight in post content” setting enabled and you come to the page from the search results, but otherwise Relevanssi should do nothing on a normal post page. So is the problem perhaps related to highlighting, or does Relevanssi break all videos on every page?

    Yes, Relevanssi was breaking all videos on every page, regardless of whether “highlight in post content” was at play or simply navigating to posts with self-hosted videos. They are relatively small MP4 videos that I uploaded either via Media Gallery or via FTP. But those FTP’d videos were subsequently registered in Media Gallery via a media management plugin. The videos were placed using the WordPress Classic “Add Media” module.

    For a while I was suspicious of my EmbedPlus for YouTube plugin. But it didn’t matter if this plugin was active or inactive. The videos would not play.

    The site was built about 6 years ago and this problem appeared only recently. I have thoroughly purged SiteGround caches from their Site Tools > Speed area. I am not using a CDN.

    Aha! I just fixed it. I deactivated and deleted relevanssi.4.28.2, then downloaded a fresh copy from the Relevanssi site. Reinstalling relevanssi.4.28.2 resulted in no index. So I built the index from scratch. All the videos play. So I guess there was something in the old stale index that was blocking video play. Or maybe my Relevanssi settings were reset with the reinstall.
