Issues verifying GWT with head section

    I have tried at least 3 different methods to verify Google Webmaster tools for studyabroadapartments.com – the recommend way of adding the meta tag via the Google Analytics plugin by Yoast, connecting Google Analytics, and manually adding the html tag to the head.php file. None of these verification methods worked. Each time GWT said, “Your meta tag is not in the <head> section of your home page.” or “The Google Analytics tracking code on your site is in the wrong location. You can verify site ownership with the asynchronous snippet placed in the <head> section of your home page.”

    I have admin rights on Google Analytics for this site. I have the right plugin with the right meta tag in there. I’ve done this dozens of times before. Everytime I’ve had some sort of issue it’s been resolved. However, this time there seems to be some issue with the <head> section of the site. I’m not sure if there is an error with the code, or if there is some plugin causing an issue as they are using around 24 plugins and the site was custom built.

    Any advice anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!

    Rather than putting info into the <head> where it is available to everyone, I use the technique of putting the “google<number>.html” file into the web root. No traffic impact, no one can use it to join me to other web sites.
