Issues on the Posts Pages

Hi all,
My site is http://www.horizonlanka.org. Please have a look at the blog page and see for yourself how bad the user experience is. I am using the Accelerate theme.
Two things I would like to achieve and need your help on:

1. Remove the meta tags “author” and “category” only (the date stays there).
2. Display excerpts instead of full posts. As you can see the featured image is displaying but the entire post ensues. It makes it impossible to navigate on the blog.

For #2,
– I’ve checked “summary” under Settings -> Reading
– I tried locating “the_content” to replace it with “the_excerpt” in index.php unsuccessfully.
– I’ve tried entering text in the excerpt box of individual posts, no change
– The <!–more–> did not help achieve the result either.
