• Hello,

I had just got my blog designed 3 days back by a web designer who is currently not contactable.

The site was running fine, till I changed something in
WP address and Blog address. After saving it, when I visited the website, it shows this http://www.cricketdiaries.com/ (the design et all is all gone)

Now, I am trying to login to my wp-admin, it shows the login page and on logging in, I get back to “NOTHING FOUND ON HOME………..”

I am thoroughly confused, what should I do?

Just to add to the above, when I type in my admin URL – i.e. cricketdiaries/wp-admin.php, it says, Nothing found for Home wp-admin php login and the page shown is 404 error

Thanks Gangleri. Unfortunately, while trying to use this, it says that I need to edit the wp-config.php file, and I am not locate it. If I go to http://www.cricketdiaries.com/wp-config.php, it gives a 404 file not found error – what does this imply?

Hey Gangleri, located the file and was able to get the website working back. Thanks a ton for this help 🙂

Hey all, I’m at my wit’s end, hope you can help. this is stupid because there just isn’t an easier way to install WP (this is a sandbox) than using fantastico.

I wanted the wp install to have its own subdirectory so I put that in the field (pg 2 of 3, no I didn’t create it ahead of time). Subdirectory is called “manual”. Get to page 3, everything is nifty, I’m given http://mysite.com/manual/wp-admin/ to login but I get a 404/500. I can get to http://mysite.com/manual/ and get an apache page. For the heck of it, I also tried http://mysite.com/manual/wp-login.php but a 404/500 on that too.

Any ideas on how I managed to louse up this install and what I can do to fix it? thanks muchly.

Update: in case anyone has this or similar problem. Problem is defined but not resolved. It’s an htaccess problem (of my own creation), not WP.

I have some redirects on this site that pertain to the domain of another url which happens to be the main account. I didn’t think I’d be adding another domain to this account (as I did today onto which I installed wp) when those redirects were written. Anyway, this install is evidently being affected by the redirects under my main url account. So, the htaccess file has to be modified -again. You guys can probably fix stuff like that in your sleep. It’ll take me at least a beer and cost me a few chewed off fingernails to fix this.

    Last word from tech support:

It seems that /manual/ is a reserved directory alias in cPanel. Just happens you stumbled on it.

Lesson: avoid the word “manual” in naming sub directory installs.

Handy to know, i wasn’t aware of that… thanks for taking the time to post back and provide some additional information.
