• I am using Twenty Sixteen theme with Woocommerce on my wordpress site. My issue is with adding links to navigation menu. Under the Appearence-Customize-Menu, I am trying to add couple of extra links to the navigation bar. But for some reason, I am not being able to save the changes. My site is oldbookdepot.in

I want to add couple of pages to the navigation menu. For some reason I am not being able to do so.

  • Are you not able to save them in the backend? Or do they save but you can not see them on the front part of the site?

In Appearance-Customize-Menus I make changes and click on “Save & Publish” button, but unfortunately nothing happens. For some reason, WordPress fails to save the changes I made to the Menus.

    Hi mayank29gupta,
I think I you have 2 more menu registered in your theme.
When your are on the panel of edit menu, please first select a menu to edit at the top from dropdown and select it. After that do what you are doing.
Hope this will solve your purpose.
    Thanks

    Dear cedcommerce,

Thanks for the reply. I am selecting the concerned menu before editing it. That is not the issue.

I think there is some issue with certain files. I simply cannot edit any menu on my website. I even tried changing the theme to edit the menu. It also failed to work. I can neither edit my top primary menu or the secondary menu.

I would suggest trying to edit the menus in the Appearance >> Menus section not in the Customize window. I have had headaches myself when editing menus under Customize.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Davood,

Sorry but your trick didn’t work.

Okay. So are the menu items saving in the back end but simply not appearing on the front end? If so, go back into Appearance >> Menus and look towards the bottom of the page for checkboxes to make the menu your default header/footer menu.

If that doesn’t fix it the theme files or WordPress core files may be damaged. You will need to log into FTP and replace the files with originals downloaded from the WordPress.org homepage.

    Hopefully that helps.

Actually its not saving in the back end as well. That’s the whole point. When I make change in the back end and click on Save button, nothing happens. If fails to even save the settings.

Could you please tell me which files I should upload again? And will I lose all the data and settings if I upload the files?

You will not lose data however if you have a child theme you may want to rebuild that. Since you can’t save that menus in the back end you will need to replace all of your the files in the wp-admin directory.
