Why not just integrate bbPress into it?
From what I just briefly read of it isn’t it just for forums?
I’m just looking for something that will allow easy content management & ability for visitors to leave comments. So I thought WordPress would be ideal provided I could customize it to work within my existing design?
Is it possible? Yeah, definitely.
Did you design and develop that site yourself or is that a template you’re using?
Yeah, bbPress has nothing to do with what you’re doing. And WP would be perfect.
If you designed and coded that site yourself then it should be a snap to bring it over to WordPress. If you’re using a template for your current design and aren’t a web dev guru (Which I, personally, am not) you might have some substantial challenges ahead of you.
You can make *any* design work with WordPress.
Yeah I did all the css/xhtml on my site, so I don’t think that side of wordpress will be a problem for me. Maybe the php will have it’s challenges though ๐
Well cool. I guess now any help in what kind of reading I should be doing would be most helpful.
Any good topics/urls I should be reading that you could suggest that would help me start integrating wp to my own website?
Thanks heaps ๐
If you’re fluent in HTML and CSS then the only thing you’ll have to familiarize yourself with is the WP template tags (i.e. php). Use the codex to help you with that.
Start here:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress
http://codex.wordpress.org/Blog_Design_and_Layout
http://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Developmentt
There’s lots of reading available on the codex, and if that doesn’t work there’s always the forum! :o)
Hope this helps, and welcome to WordPress.
thanks for all your help ๐
