    hey there is this page :
    http://www.bartelme.at/

    you see this “new” graphic
    they change by the days
    for example, for 5 days it show new graphic for top 2 posts

    is there a plugin for wordpress that do stuff like that ?

    That would be a cool plugin to write. I’ll work on it in my spare time…

    On that page i gave link the autor use it for couple of items.
    It is so great.
    Maybe you should contact with him, he is the author of that cms the page work on so he will help you probably.
