Is there a plugin for..

Is there a plugin that can group lists into categories? For example, I need to build a site that has a big list of people, and these people would be included in groups. So, I’d have a page that list the groups (managers, assistants, consultants, technicians etc) if you click on a group, you get a list of everyone in that group. Included with the list is a few other bits of info about that person (telephone, email etc).

Is there such a plugin?? I was thinking that just using the “posts” may work, but I don’t want them sorted by date.
