Support » Plugin: MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress » Is mc4wp-debug-log.php supposed to be modified?

  • Resolved fotske

My security plugin told me that the “wp-content/uploads/mc4wp-debug-log.php” file was recently modified (on the 26th of November).
Is this file supposed to be modified sometimes (without my intervention) or does it mean that I mayve have a security risk?

Thank you very much in advance for your answer.

    Hi Fotske,

Yes, the plugin uses this file to write log messages to. It is marked as a PHP file to make sure that others can’t read the contents of the file when accessing it through the browser.

You can read the file when logged-in as an administrator by going to the MailChimp for WP > Other page.

I recommend marking the file as excluded in the security plugin you’re using.

Hope that clarifies. If not, let us know please!

    Hi Danny

We kill all php files in the uploads directory

Really appreciate it if the log location could be a variable set in wp-config
