I’m just using the standard Media Library option uploading from my laptop from the pr disks the public relations coordinators we work with to receive movie screener material from send with the screeners.

It would be nice if the production companies would pay film reviewers, the closest we get is access to their affiliate programs which still don’t cover the cost of running our website, but that’s another forum topic in and of itself.

My question for this forum post: is anyone else using the latest version of WordPress 2.7.1 experience the issue of images that are on the server (Believe me I checked), that were uploaded through the Media Library picture upload function and saved to the server that way, noticing an error of the images being almost randomly dropped so that the pictures (in our case film box cover images) don’t render or appear in any of the browsers (Yes, I cross browser check).

I’m also noticing that when I go into my admin section and look at the image files viewable in the media library that some of them are distorted, even though the original post set it to thumbnail 115 X 150 without cropping as I programmed it to so that it keeps all of the image not just part of it.

But for some reason, this part seems to be either trying to crop them and not displaying them, or getting confused some how in essence still making the box cover images still not appear.

This isn’t a huge issue, I keep all of these on the original media disks we get from the studios, and those images I have to edit for decency purposes I keep saved on a backup drive, so it’s just a matter of reloading them.

The kicker here is, one day one set is distorted and gone, the next, another completely different set is all messed up. My original version is 7 years old, and we have close to 6000 reviews which over the course of the next year and a half we plan to migrate over to the new version and if we can get the IE rendering and the SEO concern under control we hope to eventually retire MS-Frontpage completely.

The problem is, with that many reviews, I can’t check that many box cover images daily and reload them every single day. I’m trying to get new reviews posted which is the main point of the conversion, WordPress is supposed to be a streamlining measure which in a large part it is.

There are just a few bugs left in the system I guess one might say.

I did talk with my host provider, part of this may be their fault because I’ve been with Valueweb.com for years and they were bought out by Hostway.com and they have been converting the old accounts like mine over to their new system. I just found out today after an extended discussion with both a Tech service rep and a manager over there that they had not converted the mysql and the php part over nor the frontpage extensions. They did open a trouble ticket today and promised to have that fixed by Tuesday of this coming week.

I’m hoping that this weirdness with the images in the Media Library is directly linked to that. I’ll know for sure in a couple of days. But if it’s not, has anyone else experienced this particular concern?

If so, how did you correct it?

    Thanks, Onguys
