iPhones Slow Scrolling on Responsive Tables

    Hey Tobias,

    First, just want to say huge fan of your work. Tablepress is truly a God-send in a world of mediocre table plugins everywhere.

    I’ve been using tablepress for nearly 4 years and I recently have come across a weird issue.

    I’m using the responsive extension and most of my tables are set to

    “responsive=scroll responsive_breakpoint=tablet”

    On iPhones (multiple models) the tables will scroll from left to right, but extremely slowly. It seems to hang and only move a few pixels at a time. This results in a user having to swipe many multiple times to view the entirety of the table (even for relatively small tables).

    Any idea what could be causing this and how to fix?

    Hi,

    thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

    I know what you mean, and I have seen it myself, but unfortunately, I have no idea what could be causing this 🙁
    I assume that it’s some CSS thing, in combination with how the theme sets up certain meta tags that influence scrolling, zooming, etc.

    Gotcha. Okay, well I’ll play around with it a bit more. Maybe I can stumble onto a solution for others out there.

    Hey Tobias,

    Good news. I found a solution.

    Another user on Stack Overflow had a similar issue here – https://stackoverflow.com/questions/33601165/scrolling-slow-on-mobile-ios-when-using-overflowscroll

    Looks like something to do with iOS devices not using momentum touch scrolling.

    The following bit of added CSS fixed the problem.

    .tablepress-scroll-wrapper {
    -webkit-overflow-scrolling: touch;
    }
