    Dear sir/madam,

Since yesterday I see several attempts from 185.104.29.254 and 45.132.227.146 to break my website.
Via Wordfence and .htaccess I blocked these IP addresses, but I still see them attacking. Can you help?

    Thank you in advance.

Hi @lvgreay, thanks for your query.

You can lengthen the Wordfence > All Options > Brute Force Protection > Amount of time a user is locked out value, meaning that attempts cannot be made as frequently. We often find locking out for days rather than minutes/hours helps stem a lot of these automated attacks.

When you’re adding a Deny from 123.123.123.123 type entry in .htaccess, make sure it’s the file in the root folder of your site. You shouldn’t need to restart the webserver when making this kind of change so if it’s not working, contact your host to see if they overrule certain site settings changes by default.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
