Please help. I cannot activate my theme. I’ve done everything from reinstalling wordpress (three times), to reinstalling the theme (3 times).

I keep getting the internal server error when I try to activate my theme and then cannot access wp-admin. Once I go in through ftp and change the theme I can access wp-admin again.

I am hosting on godaddy. They’re telling me that it’s a wordpress issue but my base install of WP works fine. It’s only when I try to activate a them that I purchased (which by the way worked and then just stopped working)

    Please help

  • May I ask what the theme name is?

Also your version of wordpress.. is it 2;9.2 or is it 3?

I am also having the similar problem. I am using a custom theme. It was all working fine. While I was making some edits to the theme. The index pages stopped working. While the others are working fine. I was having supercache plugin installed. I wondered that might be causing the problem so I uninstalled and deleted all the files of supercache.

But still no luck. I still think this can be some problem related to cache. But not sure whats causing this.

Internal server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for anything useful. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

    Hi MacManX,

    Thanks for your reply.

After having spent the whole day for the problem, I finally resolved my problem.

In my case the problem came within one of the plugins I am using that is:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tdo-tag-fixes/

When I tried to debug the code, I found that this was missing the category at home page and so the error. But I just wonder the error should have been some kind of PHP error message. Not sure why the error message was Internal Server Error.

When I provide this a fixed category, it works fine for me.

    Regards
    Manish
