• Okay, I’m getting an Internal Server Error – 500 when trying to get to my WordPress login or any areas located within WordPress. Now, my guess is that I didn’t do anything to cause this, but the pages of my website unrelated to WordPress seem to be working fine. So what gives? Did I do something wrong or is this a problem I should take up with host?

  • Use your ftp program or cpanel and find then delete the .htaccess file – it will be in the same directory as your WP install.

It was my host. It was from an upgrade they did. Thank you so much for helping.

I’m experiencing this same problem* so I looked in the directory where I have WordPress installed and there is no .htaccess file. Do you have any other suggestions for what the problem might be and how to correct it? Thanks.

    * I just finished installing the program, there were no errors during configuration, and then when I try to go to the login page it displays a server error 500.
