Hi, thanks for the reply, basically I want to be able to add a section to my website where users can download some pdf files. We have a football website and members will have access to various club documents so they can download them. I want them to go to a page or area and be able to view the docs and download if wanted. Thanks

So just to be clear, you want a members only page that would contain a list of documents for download.

If that is the case you could do it this way:

    1. Create a normal WordPress page lets call it “Football”
    2. Change the page visibility to private
    3. Add a mdocs shortcode to that page that list the files you want to display [mdocs cat=”The List of Files”
    4. Goto mDocs Dashboard>Options>Settings>Hide Things>and check the box Hide All Files: (Non Members)
    5. You can skip the first step if you don’t care if non members can find the “Football” page, the list will be blank for non login users.

Hope this is what you where looking for πŸ™‚

Hi, nearly. I need to have a download page that can allow anyone to download, would i just change point 2?

Also, is there anyway to have the folders displayed larger or in a gallery like format in columns.

I have had issues with mdocs also with the following so not been able to use it. When navigating tho the file to download no button to download displays, just a dropdown menu with the option to download. I simply want there to be a file with a download button attached to it.

Also at the top of the page i see a menu saying folders and documents. This does not look very good, is there a way to remove it.

Yes you can remove the Navbar at the top if you goto mdocs>options>settings>Hide Things>Hide Navbar

As for having a download button, currently mdocs doesn’t do that. It has been requested before and is in my development cycle as a feature request.

Last the question you have about larger folders is also not possible at this time… I will add this to the feature request list.

Hi, there is an option to design the button within the settings? What is the button for ? I must be misunderstanding something. Thanks for the help.

the button is on the post page, in the dropdown there is an option Goto Post that is where the download button is located.

oh ok, thanks, I will have a look. I am looking to add a file for users to download. What would be the best way to do this. I need to add a description etc with instructions on how to use the file. What would be the best most visual way to do this using Memphis. Again, thanks for your support.

I would use the description field in mdocs, putting your information in there. Then use the post page as the page for users to goto. To get the link to the post page click on the Share button in the dropdown menu.

    Here is an example:

Hi, that is exactly what I have been looking for. Currently on our website we have a ‘CLUB NEWS’ post which is under a category ‘ club news’. When we post news articles they go to the club news page and also to our Facebook page.

For the purpose of this I would like to have a page on the site named ‘Documentation’ or ‘Downloads’. Upon opening the page, downloads, there will be a list of downloadable items. By clicking on the link you will be taken to the post you mention, as per example you sent. From there they can download, plus the details in the description will be there etc.

    Is this possible?

Apologies for the number of questions, I just want to get to the bottom of it and finally get Memphis working for me.

    My website: http://www.parkwyddnjfc.uk

    Thank you so much.

    the simple answer is yes.

All you would have to do is create the “Downloads” post or page and add all the links to the mDocs post pages on the “Downloads”. Then when the user clicks on one of the links it would take you to the mDocs Post page you are referring too.

Hope this helps, but I think you got it πŸ™‚

Hi, thank you for the guidance, I will give it a go this evening, fingers crossed. Im still a little confused but will try. Would i create a new category for posts or is there no need? Like I say, will try, I will get there….

No need to do that, just create a normal wordpress post and add the mdocs post links to that post.

Remember to get the post links click the share button from the dropdown list of each file.
