Installing Plugin… issue on a NEW site

    I installed WP 3.0.1 today and the only plugin I have on it is AKISMET. But I can’t upload anything via FTP and I can’t browse from my desktop using the dashboard and install that route either because all it says is that it is “Installing plugin…” and nothing happens.

    This should be a very quick process but it seems to be an endless loop. No error message, nothing.

    Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    I am aware of the API error but that seems to be the case with rogue plugins already on pre-existing wordpress blogs. Just wanted to stress again that this is a new install. So not sure what the problem here is.

    I am using 1&1.com as my host, not a free hosting provider, and have never had any problems with my hosting service. Installation of the blog was a breeze.
